The Carcassonne Festival

A festival not to be missed

Ranked among the top 10 largest French festivals with its 120 shows and concerts each year, 80 of which are free on 12 stages, the Carcassonne Festival attracts nearly 200,000 spectators.

See you in July in Carcassonne, every year.

There is something for everyone, and whether you pay or not, the quality is no exception. The Carcassonne Festival offers an eclectic programme that will delight all lovers of entertainment and culture.

Knightly tournaments

From mid-July to the end of August

To the rhythm of horses and the clash of weapons, knights battle mercilessly in a grand setting. A family-friendly show lasting 45 minutes, offering seated and shaded spots in the stands.

The Tour de France

July 7, 2026

The Tour de France is one of the most followed sporting events in the world, blending cycling performance and popular spectacle. Every year, this great race crosses the most beautiful French territories, offering spectators exceptional landscapes and unique emotional moments. Carcassonne, a city rich in heritage, is delighted to regularly host the Tour.

In 2026, the city will be the starting point of the 4th stage to Foix, promising a festive and lively day for residents and visitors alike. This stage will be an opportunity to experience the city in a new light, combining cycling, entertainment, and heritage.

Medieval City Fireworks

Fired from the Medieval City, the Carcassonne fireworks display is the must-see event in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of people every year.

It has become one of the most famous and most beautiful fireworks displays in France, lighting up the city’s skies every year since 1898.

Come and watch this extraordinary and unforgettable show. Golden rain, butterflies and whirlwinds, hearts and smileys, palm trees, stroboscopic stars… will delight young and old.

The Feria of Carcassonne

The last week-end of august

A real festive event, the Feria de Carcassonne invites you to discover traditional Spanish and Sevillian music and dance.

The Feria de Carcassonne returns in its traditional form with 4 days of festivities in the city centre (bodegas, concerts, Sevillian dances…).

 

Carcassonne Game Festival

September 13 and 14 2025

The 4th edition of the festival returns to Carcassonne.

Discover animations in different historical universes installed in the Medieval City of Carcassonne, with games tables, shows and workshops of all kinds on a very specific time.

Many goodies and surprises exclusive to this event are also planned throughout the weekend!

Wine Festival

 October 16–17, 2025

On October 16 and 17, 2025, come and celebrate Carcassonne’s Wine Festival on Place Carnot, in the Bastide Saint-Louis! Two evenings of wine tastings from the Aude region, meetings with local winemakers, and gourmet discoveries highlighting the Aude terroir await you.

Enjoy a festive and friendly atmosphere with performances by brass bands, live music groups, and DJs, and show your support for the courage and passion of the region’s wine producers.

Grand Raid des Cathares

October 23–25, 2025

The Grand Raid des Cathares is one of the major sporting events in Carcassonne, bringing together trail running enthusiasts from all over France every autumn. Starting from the medieval city of Carcassonne, runners explore the spectacular landscapes of the Cathar Country, passing castles, forests, and the mountains of the Pyrenees.

The event offers several routes suitable for all levels: the Grand Raid des Cathares (161 km), the Trail des Bogomiles (101 km), the Trail des Hérétiques (63 km), the Trail des Colombes (40 km), as well as the Trails des Patarins (25 km) and the Nocturne du Château Comtal (12 km).

A unique sporting and human adventure in the heart of Aude, blending heritage, nature, and self-transcendence.

The International Political Film Festival (FIFP) is a film festival for the general public and schoolchildren highlighting exceptional works.
