My girlfriend and I spent an unforgettable weekend in Carcassonne. I had booked a great hotel **** with a terrace and a view on the Cité. Super class and staff with the small care. The best. On the spot, the barman suggested we try the blanquette de Limoux (champagne is Emilie’s favourite drink). Not only did we learn that blanquette was invented before champagne, but it’s really delicious.
The Castle of the Counts visit located in the heart of the
The visit is well worth it, both for the history of the castle and for the views it offers of the Pyrenees, the Black Mountain and the city of Carcassonne. Then, a romantic carriage ride along the ramparts.
In the evening, candlelight dinner in a great gastronomic restaurant in the city. Oh là là, their foie gras and their duck breast with figs, a killer! In addition, the decoration of the restaurant was great. At the time of the dessert, I put a knee on the ground and solemnly like a knight (better than in the movies), I offered her THE ring by asking her if she wanted to be my wife. She pretended to hesitate and looking me straight in the eyes, she said: “Yes knight, I want you for life”.
When we left the restaurant, we danced near the two wells of the City. They say it brings good luck … so we didn’t hesitate 😊 😊. It was already dark and the lighting of the streets and ramparts gave a really magical feel to the place.
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast served in the room, we headed to the spa for a special couple session. Hammam, jacuzzi and 4-hand massage. Softness, serenity, plenitude. What happiness!!! I recommend the experience and the professionalism of the masseuses who took care of us. Relaxation, relaxation and relaxation.
Then, a romantic and delicious lunch in the city centre:
I had booked everything and warned the owner who was great and prepared lots of little touches for us. Then a gentle cruise on the calm waters of the Canal du Midi which winds through the trees. The guide is very nice and explains us the functioning of the locks as we go along. A magical moment that we won’t forget!
Then, we have to go back at the end of this exceptional weekend which will remain forever engraved in our minds. One thing is certain: we will be back for our wedding anniversary!
