The Story of a Civic Ambition
The Genesis: A Project Driven by You
It all began with a vision, that of a festival volunteer, Catherine Vaillantcourt Laflamme, and a collective determination: that of the CinéBastide volunteers. The idea was simple yet bold: to create a permanent place where political cinema would not be confined to a single week of a festival, but would live on every day, at the heart of our region.
This dream became reality thanks to you. Presented to the people of Aude through the Participatory Budget of the Aude Departmental Council, the project immediately won widespread support. In spring 2025, thanks to the vote of the citizens of Aude, La Boîte was selected as a winning project.
One Place, Three Faces
Ideally located in the very heart of the city—just one minute from Place Carnot, opposite the Post Office and a short walk from the Le Colisée cinema—La Boîte is a hybrid space designed as a cultural oasis:
A Screening Box: An intimate 16-seat theater equipped with tailor-made technical quality, dedicated exclusively to showcasing short films.
A Living Box: A warm café space, a true place for meeting and exchanging ideas, where the world is put to rights after each screening.
A Working Box: A space for reflection and creation for the teams shaping the cinema of tomorrow.
Our Mission: To Illuminate and to Share
La Boîte extends the experience of the International Political Film Festival (FIFP) throughout the year. It is a place open to everyone, from seasoned film lovers to younger audiences through dedicated educational programs. Our ambition is to nurture critical thinking and to make cinema a tool for understanding our society.
