Caunes-Minervois

An ancient fortified village, from the Middle Ages to the present day, with an incredibly rich historical heritage that can be discovered through two signposted routes. The marble sculptures in the village invite you to discover the quarries that gave Caunes Minervois an international reputation for its red marble (Petit Trianon, Vatican…) and some of which are still in use.

Not to be missed: the Benedictine Abbey with its superb chevet, a jewel of early southern Romanesque art.
