Located in the heart of the city, the Carcassonne Contemporary Art Center opens its doors to you!
Housed in the former Banque de France at 5 rue Jean Bringer, this new space for exhibition, creation, exchange, and promotion welcomes local, regional, and international artists. It offers areas dedicated to temporary exhibitions as well as spaces for artist residencies.
A rich and diverse program
The Carcassonne Contemporary Art Center will present a rich and diverse program, including:

Temporary exhibitions by emerging and established artists.
Cultural events: openings, artist talks, performances, and lectures.
An annual artist residency program, followed by an end-of-residency exhibition.
Workshops and cultural mediation activities for various audiences (schools, families, adults).

Contemporary Art Centers
Emerging in France in the 1970s, contemporary art centers are key players in today’s artistic creation. These spaces for production and promotion are dedicated to experimentation and the exploration of living art. Unlike museums, they do not aim to build collections but focus on exhibitions, art production, mediation, and public education. By fostering encounters with contemporary art, they contribute to cultural democratization and actively support artists, especially those at the beginning of their careers.
