The unmissable French event of July
The Tour de France
This cycling competition is recognized and watched worldwide. The most skilled cyclists come to face the various stages of this famous historic race. It is also a true moment of conviviality and sharing in the various cities that host each stage of the Tour de France. Carcassonne is no exception.
Riders’ arrival expected around 5:05 PM
Carcassonne will host the arrival of the 15th stage of the Tour de France 2025!
Carcassonne will once again be in the spotlight this summer as the finish city for the Tour de France on Sunday, July 20, 2025!
This long-awaited event will bring together cycling enthusiasts and the people of Carcassonne for a historic moment, as the 15th stage will lead the riders from Muret to the medieval city, offering an unforgettable spectacle. The Tour’s first visit to our city dates back to 1947 and left a lasting impression with Albert Bourlon’s incredible solo breakaway, which ended victoriously after 253 kilometers in Luchon – a record that still stands. More recently, in 2021, Mark Cavendish equaled Eddy Merckx’s stage win record in Carcassonne before surpassing it three years later with 35 victories at the Saint-Vulbas stage.
Stage: Muret – Carcassonne
The Carcassonne route often favors sprinters, but the 2,400 meters of positive elevation gain in less than 170 kilometers can also encourage attackers to go on the offensive. The climb of Saint-Ferréol passing through Revel, then the Pas du Sant in the Tarn valley (2.9 km at 10%) can help eliminate opponents. There will then be 40 kilometers of slight descent to reach the Medieval City with possibly a strong side wind blowing!
On the occasion of the arrival of the 15th stage of the Tour de France 2025 in Carcassonne, traffic and parking restrictions are being implemented to ensure the safety of all and the smooth running of the event.
