A month of magic in Carcassonne
During 1 month, share unforgettable moments with family or friends in the 4 corners of the city: giant bubbles and luminous fountains in Gambetta, medieval camps in the City, a visual immersion in the Christmas universe under the Halles Prosper Montagné, virtual reality, the return of the ice rink place Carnot but also the park of Santa Claus and its inevitable big wheel on the square Chénier…
The City of Carcassonne has prepared an array of activities for young and old and, this year again, new magical surprises await you…
The next edition starts on the 3rd of December 2025!
From 3rd December 2025 to 3rd January 2026
Created in 2005 by the City of Carcassonne, the Magic of Christmas has continually reinvented and expanded to become, over the years, an unmissable event in the great south of France, even crossing borders and attracting thousands of Spanish visitors every year. Since its beginnings, this Magic of Christmas has seen generations of children from Carcassonne pass through.
Every winter, Carcassonne lights up and transforms itself to offer its residents and visitors a truly enchanting break: the Magic of Christmas.

In the open grounds, several troupes will set up their tents to showcase daily life in the Middle Ages. Through various workshops, you can try your hand at leatherworking, create your own coat of arms, and enjoy traditional wooden games. Archery demonstrations and knightly combats will bring this immersive journey to life.
A large medieval market will bring together around thirty artisans offering costumes, leather goods, pottery, wooden crafts, and unique creations. At Prado Garden, a second market will feature local creators and producers, perfect for your year-end gifts.
The entire Citadel will come alive to the sounds of ancient music, with troubadours, stilt walkers, and street performances.
