From their travels across Latin America, the two musicians of Duo Quitipl\u00e1 have brought back a shared passion for the popular music and songs of this part of the world. Their aim is to revive and reintroduce a repertoire that remains largely unknown to the general public: popular Cuban duos from the 1920s to the 1970s such as Los Compadres and Maria Teresa Vera, joropos and tonadas from the Venezuelan plains (llanos), cumbias from the Colombian coast, Peruvian criollo waltzes, and Chilean revolutionary songs. With entirely acoustic instrumentation (two harmonized voices, a cuatro or guitar, maracas or a guiro) and lyrics inspired by everyday life, often infused with burlesque poetry and tales of romantic folly, Duo Quitipl\u00e1 offers music that is both intimate and festive. The enthusiasm, delicacy, camaraderie and infectious rhythms they share move hearts... and bodies alike!"}
