Presentation

In the 1820s, Carmen, a pretty young gypsy working in the cigar factory in Seville, throws a flower she has bitten to a dragoon brigadier called Don José... "If I love you, beware! If I love you, watch out! During a quarrel between the cigar girls, the armed forces intervene and Don José, succumbing to Carmen's charm, helps her escape. Imprisoned for this indulgence, the brigadier, once released, compromises his career by fighting with his superior, leaves the straight and narrow and joins his beloved, an accomplice of the smugglers, in the nearby mountains. However, Carmen is now in love with another man, Escamillo, a famous toreador, and tells Don José... Despite his pleas, Carmen remains unmoved and rejects him with harsh words. Finally, close to the arena where Escamillo triumphs, Don José kills Carmen.
